How VR Supercharges Animation & Previz | TD Meetup 21

A few years back, VR was all hype: Headsets, demos, promises until it quietly vanished. But in recent years, we’ve seen a shift and VR has matured. Virtual Reality is slowly becoming part of our reality, from video games and visualizations to art. We invited Dan Franke - a VR storyteller for games and VR experiences - to demonstrate how Quill VR capabilities can be integrated into our visual effects workflow from storyboarding to fx.


Dan started as a CG generalist sculpting aliens in ZBrush, then found storytelling at the Animationsinstitut and Studio Soi’s Petzi series. There, he learned that directing isn’t about ego, it’s about coordination and efficiency. Big studios have teams, independents need smarter tools. His search for independence led him to Quill.


Everyone production should have at least one Quill VR artist.

Dan will take us inside his creative process and show us how he uses Quill VR to craft immersive VR stories and turn ideas into visuals at lightning speed. He will explain how these techniques can be seamlessly incorporated into traditional 3D animation and previz workflows, making them a powerful tool for rapid iteration and creative problem solving.
